AIP has recently
delivered the second of two all Molybdenum furnaces, which are some of the
longest Hot Isostatic Press furnaces in the world. Using a full Molybdenum
structure allows higher temperatures to be reached reliably and extends
the life of the furnace. In excess of 3 meters long, these furnaces
can process 5 tons of steel in one load. Utilizing 9 zones of heating, the
temperature is controlled via computer allowing extremely low thermal
gradients resulting in superior material properties. These furnaces operate to 1250 C and use
high density, ultra high purity Alumina spool insulators to provide
excellent resistance to contamination, but still resist thermal shock.
Featuring the InstaPlug™
interface, these furnaces can be removed for repair with no disconnection
of power cables or pressure lines. Higher temperature furnaces are available in the
1500 C MolyMax™
and 2200 C CarbonTech™
lines.
