Low Pressure HIP

AIP has recently added 2 more HIP units to it's research Toll capacity. The first is a 45,000 psi unit capable of 2000 degrees C. This unit features a 75 mm x 125 mm hot zone and can pressurize even after heating has been done. Operated by AIP's HIPsoft ™ graphical software the unit is completely automatic and all cycle data is logged to hard disk and can be e-mailed directly to the customer. The second unit is a mid size HIP with a 225 mm diameter x 750 mm long hot zone rated 1500 degrees C. A 2000 degree C furnace is also under construction for this system. This unit has also been outfitted with an active degassing arrangement to allow evacuation of the inside of a part while pressurizing the outside. This unit has also been retrofitted with HIPsoft ™ to allow computer operation.

AIP has also installed a 100,000 psi research CIP unit to allow customers the chance to process powders at much higher pressures than is typically available. By CIPping at such high pressures certain materials that will not deform under normal pressures will do so and allow bonding to occur. The high pressure can also lead to changes of the requirements for wax or binders which can often result in better properties or enhanced Sintering.
